Montreal’s New Logo

So apparently it takes 2 years and $487,000 Canadian dollars to get this:

New Montreal Logo | Logo Nouveau de Montreal

What do you think?  If you asked me, it’s a ridiculous sum for tax payers to be dishing out for what a select few at the Montreal Metropolitan Community deem appropriate for our city.

That’s roughly 17 cents per citizen in the city.   How exactly does this help us?  According to the MMC, it provides ”a branding that will clearly and cohesively present the metropolitan region’s features on the international scene.”

Despite the logo’s approval rating of 5%, Le Devoir reports that the 82 mayors of the MMC municipalities claim the new logo allows them to ”speak with a sole voice internationally so as to have more impact.”

Can you spell c-o-r-r-u-p-t-i-o-n?

Here’s an idea:

How about not wasting tax dollars on something that could have been crowdsourced for a tenth of the cost - while producing a result that would be well-liked by the majority?

Hmmmm … more to follow!
