The Greatest Political Accomplishment In History

It’s been a week since Barack Obama’s monumental victory.  As the enormity of the task he accomplished sank in, I came to a startling realization: Greatest Political Accomplishment In History.

Obama Election Night

I don’t say this lightly, but think about what he’s done.  This man has risen from modest beginnings outside the establishment to become the single most powerful man on the planet.

In a country that has been founded and run by (relatively) conservative rich white Anglo-Saxon males for 300 years, a man of Kenyan decent and color has risen to the highest office.  That’s like a Pakistani becoming the British prime minister!  It’s like a Filipino rising to the top of the power ladder … in Japan!

Hussein ObamaIn a country that is currently at war with Muslims in a fight that started as a way to catch an enemy by the name of Hussein, a guy that spent part of his youth in Indonesia (the largest Muslim country in the world) and with “Hussein” as his middle name has become Commander-in-Chief.

In a country where, in many states, a 7 year-old Barack Obama wouldn’t have been allowed on the same bus or in the same diner as a poor, dirty white man - he is now the leader of each and every one of those white men - in each and every one of those states!  That’s like a drunk bum walking into the nicest restaurant in town, getting the keys to the front door and being told “it’s yours now.”  Up until last Tuesday, it just couldn’t happen.  Now it’s as real as the screen you’re reading.

“Okay so it’s big,” you might be saying, “but the Greatest Political Accomplishment in History? Come oooon!”

The Greatest.  In History.

Obama and MLKFor starters, you remember Martin Luther King of “I have a dream” fame?  Yeah, this IS the dream.  Diddo for Malcom X and Muhammad Ali.  I mean, Muhammad Ali was (and may even still be) the most recognizable face on the entire planet not 20 years ago - THIS IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN THAT!

How about Abe Lincoln abolishing slavery?  That was definitely huge, but now a once-slave IS Abe Lincoln!

The end of World War II?  Monumental … but now a Jew is RUNNING the Third Reich!  Think about that.  Running the whole damn thing that tried to ruin him for so long … and without a shred of violence.

Ghengis Kahn creating an empire that covered most of modern day Asia?  Barack’s empire covers most of the globe … and he didn’t have to kill and maim half the continent to get it.  Same can be said for Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, the list goes on…

Make no mistake: no matter where you live today, barring the end of civilization as we know it, your great-great-great-great-great-grand kids will know Barack Obama’s name, recognize his face, and probably study him in school.  How could they not?  He accomplished the greatest political feat in history.  His face already belongs on Mount Rushmore - and he isn’t even president yet!

Obama on Mount Rushmore

And you know how he did it?  The internet.  Damn I love this industry - but more on that in another post.

On this Remembrance Day, I salute and admire the man.  How he goes to sleep at night without having incessant nightmares of him and his family  being assassinated, I will never know.

Barring that type of disaster, the next 4 years should be downright fascinating.  A man who already accomplished one of the greatest feats in history - a peaceful, insightful, fiercely intelligent man - now has 4 years to show the world what he can do as it’s leader.  My money says he will do as good a job as any that has stood in his shoes.

I am please with this, may the better man win.
For those conspiracy nuts who claim the 2004 election was a sham. Don’t you think the same powers would have stopped this from happening even more so. Shame on you for doubting the American system. My only concern is the deep divide between red and blue states. Cant we all just get along.

Hey Eric,

I love the article! Good idea on putting the whole speech via Youtube…. it definitely reinforces your point!

The one part I didn’t so much unbderstand was the paragraph about a jew leading the third reich. What do you mean?

BTW.. I subscribed to your blog…. I’m looking fwd to your next post.

ciao

Hey Steph. Thanks for reading!

I meant that Barack leading the US is like a jew leading Nazi germany. Both were persecuted by the powers that be.

#7 Steph on 11.16.08 at 10:10 am

Persecuted yes…. but a little harsh don’t you think? comparing the American Gov’t at the time to Hitler’s regime!

#8 Eric S on 11.16.08 at 10:12 am

My intention was to compare the American government of slavery to the German government of Hitler.

The same party that was around at the time of slavery is now being led by a man that would once have been a slave.

If the Nazi party were still around and a Jew were elected to run the country, it would pretty much have been the same thing.

We forget that 100,000,000 Black people were killed as they were taken from Africa back then.

Not to be a downer, but Obama is not a great leader. he got into power using underhand tactics and not fighting fair. This man will not fix the country at best we can hope that he doesn’t keep making it worse. now its time to welcome our 10+% unemployment rate and tons of underhanded and devastating taxes, Along with the bright idea that the best thing to do in a recession is spend trillions of government dollars with a treasury department this is highly understaffed. “the Greatest Political Accomplishment in History” I agree with this, its an accomplishment when a democracy freely elects an incompetent and inexperienced man with deep Muslim roots as the commander and chief of the country in the middle of a struggle with Muslim nations.

re: “he got into power using underhand tactics and not fighting fair.”

American politics is inherently unfair - especially since Karl Rove (not Obama) brought it to new lows in terms of fairness and decency. In the face of Republican tactics that included ridiculous claims of Obama associating with terrorists, I would say Obama actually ran a remarkably clean campaign. I would also say it played a HUGE role in his victory since the American public was (and is) sick and tired of political cheap shots.

re: “now its time to welcome our 10+% unemployment rate and tons of underhanded and devastating taxes, Along with the bright idea that the best thing to do in a recession is spend trillions of government dollars with a treasury department this is highly understaffed.”

In all fairness, the unemployment rate is a result of the recession which is a result of the Bush administration’s refusal to impose checks and balances on the financial sector - Obama can not be blamed for this. As for the spending - it remains to be seen whether this will work - clearly you feel it won’t but you also have absolutely no way of knowing for sure. Please don’t pretend you do.

re: “an incompetent and inexperienced man with deep Muslim roots”

I have yet to read anything concrete about his “deep Muslim roots.” I have personally spent time in the middle east just as he has spent time in Indonesia and I can assure you I have absolutely no Muslim roots whatsoever. As for incompetence, I have two words: George Bush. Please don’t even go there.

I once read that in order to be a leader it takes vision, execution, and accountability. I would say Obama definitely has the vision. As for execution and accountability, the book remains open. But let’s please give him the time and benefit of the doubt for now. The man has already executed the greatest political feat in history. Besides, the country - and the world - desperately need him to work out!

RE: ‘I would say Obama definitely has the vision, But let’s please give him the time and benefit of the doubt for now.

Make no mistake, i am not for republican or democrat and i believe now that bush has laid the groundwork for what is taking place right now, but i ask you…. the man who has so much faith in another…

Did you know who you were voting for? Do you believe what you are told?

There are many questions surrounding this man, and while i know he has captivated an entire nation (or so they say) I have seen no evidence that he is anything other than another politicial with hugely socialistic desires. When i say socialistic, it is apparent to me that in just a few short years this beloved land that we love will cease to function as it was intended.

Heck, we cant even get a clear decision on where the man was born or what his legal name is, because immediately after assuming power, he sealed every record that could be had about him.

The American people have a right to know where he was born, the American people have a right.. no, scratch that….. A RESPONSIBLITY to this republic to be answered to.. not spoken down upon from on high.

Answer me this…. what is your personal share of the national debt… that is money that is already spent which MUST be paid back to whom it was borrowed from. How much do YOU personally owe as an american in DEBT for what this man and his army have only just begun to do?

According to The Heritage Foundation, in 2009 the Obama Administration budget equals:

Spend $30,958 per household
Tax $17,576 per household
Borrow $13,392 per household

“…includes $1.4 trillion in tax increases and $9 trillion of new borrowing over the next decade…”

He changed his name after we pointed out his lies. http: answers.yahoo.com my profile;_ylt=Au.KqH19yG4nwHENK8LqNBhUxQt.;_ylv=3?show=CH2TbyANaa So: 1. Why did he change his name? 2. How can a 17 year old have a 16 year old son? Thanks.
